Machine tool procurement can be risky without proper technical expertise
applied at critical milestones. I work with managers, engineers, and operations
people to develop a concept that can fulfill the intent while utilizing
practical methods. Measures include working capital, space, cycle time
efficiency, and capability. Throughout the procurement cycle these objectives
are communicated to insure success. I develop specifications of machine tool systems, define acceptance tests
based on ANSI B5.54, NAS 979, and Six Sigma, select and qualify vendors,
develop special processes,
negotiate terms of delivery and acceptance utilizing
8-sigma or 1.33-1.50CpK
process capability index studies,
facilitate machine acceptance trials,
and train personnel during application start up.
